NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Being a volunteer for your community takes dedication and time. To thank those busy bees,Berkshirenonprofits.com is sponsoring a raffle for volunteers through Wednesday, Oct. 31.
More than $800 in gift certificates, ranging in value from $5 to $25, will be raffled off from participating businesses including Public Eat and Drink, Berkshire Emporium, Christo's Famous Pizza, Lickety Split, Persnickity Toys, Cariddi Sales, CJ's Sports Bar and Restaurant, Scissor Sisters, Olympic Pizza and Family Restaurant, Shima, The Local, Bark 'N Cat, Price Chopper, McDonald's and Papa Ginos.
"Volunteers are very important to area nonprofits and I am glad that this raffle will help to recognize volunteers for the role they play in helping to make our community a better place," said Joseph McGovern, executive director of Northern Berkshire United Way.
Drawings will take place at community events over the next month, including at the Children's Parade on Friday, Sept. 28, in North Adams. You do not need to be present to win at any of the drawings, but we will need your contact information.
To enter the raffle, register as a volunteer at Berkshirenonprofits.com or, if already registered, sign up for one or more volunteer opportunities to be automatically entered. There will also be special drawings for youth so specify if you are age 17 or younger.
In addition, all who volunteer at area nonprofits (school, church, agency, etc.) between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31, also can enter individually or through that organization. Send name, or names, with contact information (nonprofits can use themselves as contact for their volunteers), when and where the volunteering was done to kkeeser@berkshirenonprofits.com or to BNP c/o Kathy Keeser, PO Box 114, North Adams, MA 01247.
